New housing continues to rise throughout the neighborhood bordering the city's soccer stadium, with the first move-ins of the latest phase expected later this month.
Officials gathered Tuesday to mark the progress of Stadium Estates II, a project of Charles Settlement House and Rochester Cornerstone Group.
This $12 million second phase will add 46 units (half of which are under construction), bringing the total to 91 units, ranging in size from two to five bedrooms.
Expected to be completed at year's end, the full development will total 58 buildings. Included in that is a community center, to open this October on Jay Street.
"This is really a remarkable effort," said Dana Miller, the city's director of development services. "You can't really go down a street in the JOSANA neighborhood without seeing things getting better."
Units are affordable at 60 percent of area median income, officials say, which is more than median housing income in a neighborhood plagued by unemployment. The state provided $2.4 million in financing through its Homes and Community Renewal Trust Fund.
